Shares of upstart Affinity Technology roarded back to life last week.

Most of the gains came during Thursdy's Nasaaq National Market session. Affinity shares were up 88 cents.

Columbia - based Affinity has continued to draw positive comments from finanical analysts who see a bright future in the company's automated
loan machines and in the software systems behind them.

Meanwhile, speculation continues to build about the future role of Greenville-based Carolina First Corp. at Afinity. Carolina Fist is attempting to get a favorable classification for its holdings in
Affinity from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

Affinity's stock was a hot initial public offering, Shares soared to
an overheated $20.50 on the first day of trading last spring.

Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette believes Affinity shares will hit $ 17 this year.
