Yep, that's exactly what we need. Fire more workers so the big shots at the top can get a bigger salary.

TopCat said "Firing government workers is exactly what's needed." Higher salaries aren't really an issue here, unless your talking about higher post tax salaries since we can avoid tax increases, and eventually cut taxes, if we reign in government growth. The "big shots" here are the American people in general.

Even for private companies, if the company can do the same work with fewer employees, then productivity is increased, and eventually total production goes up as well. Creative destruction is the only way to increase wealth production long term. The "bit shots at the top" and their salaries are usually a sideshow at best. Normally their salaries are low as a percentage of revenue. The same can not usually be said for the set of "rank and file" workers. If CEOs and such are paid "too much" that's an issue for shareholders, not for the political process.
