Nuts and Bolts is mostly a static program. That is you can do some nice things with it through individual modules like file shredder, file encryption, zip etc. I was not impressed with the integration of these. Other than that it has static diagnostics similar to WinProbe 95. RealHelp has continuous behind the scenes monitoring and scheduled agents that search and destroy viruses, defrag, check smart disk, warn about registry errors, incomplete files, orpahned short cuts, software or hardware conflicts, memory, resources, crash defender, etc. It also has all the WinProbe static diagnostics. The most important feature of RealHelp is the fix search function. The cd-rom has a database that you can search but if there is no answer it will do an automatic internet search. It also list all vendors with fax, phone, etc. Plus there is auto update by the net and a year subscription to TuneUp.com. I downloaded the Nuts and Bolts trial and except for encryption, zip and shredder there is no comparison. You down load the nuts and bolts trial and wait for the RealHelp release and try it. I am sure Quarterdeck will have a money back guarantee. I use Zip-it for zipping. I don't need encryption for files and it is a pain the way Nuts and Bolts does itanyway. |
