Keep on asking God, Delbert: "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, 'He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her [or him]'. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last..." John 8:7-9
Jesus' response to inquiry regarding divorce seems to apply well in response to your question as to what to do with an unruly child, as you mention: "They say unto him, 'Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?' He saith unto them, 'Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered [permitted] you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so'" Matthew 19:7-8
"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Ephesians 6:4
"Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged." Colossians 3:21
Put it all together, prayerfully, with the Golden Rule, and considering King David's response to his rebellious son Absalom. Remember, David was a man after God's own heart:
After Absalom sinned against one of his sisters, "...Absalom fled,... and David mourned for his son every day," 2 Samuel 13:37
"And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, 'O my son Absalom, my son. My son Absalom! Would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!" 2 Samuel 18:33
