Barabara, in the recent past "take over targets" are constant rumors originating at the trading desks of hedge funds who take position in the stocks prior to starting the rumor. IMHO. I have nothing to prove this accusation just as I can't prove that Tom Kurlak had orchestrated a Micron pump-and-dump! Also, there was a good reason to believe that in May 97 Micron Electronics itself may have started a rumor about MUEI being bought out by Compaq. Remember the c-net article which said (paraphrased) "sources close to Micron say that a deal may be announced this week.." Both MU and MUEI shot-up on the rumor making me poorer. :-(
I think there is no substance to these buyout rumors. There is no value to MUEI and GTW. Why would anyone buy these two companies at these levels when they will be trading as penny stocks in a couple of years? -g-
