Givthe underlying metals are true money, and will stay 'expensive' and become more so -- if only because of the poorness of the paper money for which they are exchanged.
Thus, those men who own the land in which the metals are buried in abundance, and who know how to extract the metals wisely, can certainly expect this this lean time to be followed by a time of wealth.
