How do I go to a caucus?

The number one purpose of a caucus is to draft foot soldiers to do the grunt work of politics. Be prepared to be hectored and shamed into volunteering for phoning, envelope stuffing, etc. Maybe you'd like to do that. It could be fun.

The second purpose is to provide the illusion that you have a voice in the party. They give you plenty of opportunity to argue about planks in the platform. The platform that no candidate has ever read.

The third purpose is to elect people to do to the county, or district convention. Usually anyone who wants to can go to that. The purpose of the district convention is to elect people to go to the state convention. Odds are pretty slim that you'll make that cut. The purpose of the state convention is to pick people to go to the national convention. You have zero chance of getting there. And that's where the decisions are made.

The real reason to go to a caucus is the opportunity to meet your neighbors and sometimes you can be surprised how many of them agree with you.
