Quirky is not a word I could sensibly apply to any of the candidates, though I disagree with all of them in many ways, including Ron Paul on the need for a gold standard. < A cult like following of a quirky individual is not an American way to solve problems. At least it hasn't been until now. >

It seems that people look for denigrating labels to attach to people they disagree agree with to avoid having to defeat the arguments. Quirky? Oh, okay then, can't have that, let's stick with Obamacare and Romney's Big Government programmes.

A cult? You are kidding right? 20% of the population or some such already thinks he's pretty good. It's pretty tough to argue that the swarms supporting Ron Paul are a cult. The cultists are more reasonably those candidates who appeal to superstitious thinking in a big way, such as Perry, Bachmann and Palin.

I don't need to denigrate Barack or Michelle to make a case that Obamacare is a bad idea. Same for shovel-ready stimulus of his friends and supporters with $trillions. I don't need to determine whether he's a cultist or not to decide that shovel-ready Big Government waste is catastrophe in progress, a $trillion at a time.

So, is it a cult or just cult-like?

What's amusing is that people say they wouldn't support him because other people wouldn't. Nothing to do with his ideas. I suggested to a couple that rather than second guess what other people might think, they could focus on what they think instead.
