I share Paul's economic views. The government is clearly choosing economic theories - and advisors - based on self-serving inclinations, rather than on what would be best for the economy. They are gone too far -- to change, they would have to admit that they were doing the wrong things for decades. They would need to admit to having caused great damage. This will never happen. They will continue doing the same thing, and when disaster strikes, they'll pretend to be saving the world - by managing the unraveling, by printing a new currency at the proper moment, etc.

Like you, I'm not sold on the gold standard. Can't see pricing all the wealth of the planet in terms of the rather limited quantity of gold.

I think if you'll view or read carefully Paul's comments on FP, you may realize that this man does not belong in the White House. His economic thinking does, but he does not. Regrettably.
