honestly , just find it fascinating looking at in the context of historical evolution .
If you go back to early time to first Father of Latin Christianity "blood of the martyr, seed of the church" --> Tertullian(c. 160 – c. 225 AD) , it was he that argued in the roman courts that Christian persecution & torture for blaspheme was unfounded because the pagan's were the true atheists & their God's didn't exist.
(therefore Christians were commiting no crime enraptured/channeling with the true god )

No pagan was going to out do the christians in purity , chastity & holy conduct even down to views on masturbation , which of course was forbidden and against God's will for sapping strength & attention away from channeling the lord's will .
