1. The confiscation of gold (1932) was way pre Breton Woods (late war, 1940s).

2. Pre 1932 the US was on a gold standard, and gold was in circulation as coinage, along with silver. IMHO there was more gold available to seize in 1932 than now, when gold does not circulate.

3. The amount of gold that could be seized, given its very small level of penetration into the US investing public, would IMHO be very small, and probably not worth the trouble.

4. Not so, of course with the larger ETF's. However the assets of GLD are held in London, and no doubt would be seized by that government, and not this one. I do not think the Brits would let us take it, either.

5. However, anything with government, is possible.
