Continental drift was a century in perfecting into current plate tectonics of course its obvious looking back even to the first complete maps were drawn many children were able to notice that fittingness between africa & south america . Its the "whys" that are important to science , some for a time "believed" it might be the moon's gravitational pull that created the Himalayas etc . Its that science corrects itself as time moves forward with finer collection of new data and we'll prolly know for sure within 50yrs this one universe is not all there is .
Back to observable things , the case of "love" similarly is easy to see examples of this all thru nature in the higher animals , primates and even birds that mate for life . So you would say that a humanist has no access to examples of love in the Universe/World without all this wonderful P iled H igher & D eeper "father/son" based "New Revelation" ?
Doesn't appear to be anything new about any of it , just wishful thinking and lack of questioning on the adherent's part with only those remaining "dire" consequences for any that choose to stray . Those threats were so neatly built into the story at every turn but one could say women did need all that protection & remain hidden , which they get in good measure still over in Afghanistan . There is the need for morality & ethics of course, certainly those developements in those times demanded it ...still has a ring of scientific explanation to me rather than supernatural .
