Don't get too excited about Scott Walker either. How is this deal any different in principle from Solindra?
The guy's "BIG" idea is to build a small airplane for the general aviation market. Real original. But the politicians, including Scott Walker, are falling all over themselves to give him tax dollars:

The financial package includes the use and creation of $3.1 million in
tax-increment financing and a $2.4 million low-interest loan through
the city of Superior, and the transfer of county-owned land next to
the Bong Airport and a $500,000 loan through the Douglas County
Revolving Loan Fund.

The state plans to participate in the project in a big way, with $30
million in New Market Tax Credits in 2012, $60 million in future
allocations, plus a $2 million loan through the state’s Small Business
Credit Initiative Program through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic
Development Authority.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. will add $18 million in
Enterprise Zone Tax Credits and a $2 million economic development loan
to the pot.
Walker said the creation of the economic development
corporation from the former Department of Commerce provided an
opportunity for the state to “move at the speed of business” rather
than the speed of government, helping to facilitate the deal.

deal = boondoggle.
