*AV*-as for me, I use simple math also much like Richard (I just realized he answered your question so my math is removed below)

To be completely accurate, I add both commissions to the $ 46,625 and then divide by the 1250 shares to come up a precise average trade cost. For tax purposes, I have 2 journal entries in my spreadsheet for the purchases and split the sell commissions proportionately if I sell both sets at the same time. Otherwise I specifiy to my broker which shares are being sold so the IRS cannot accuse me of hanky panky.

BTW-I will not disagree with Kevin's 32 comment. However, I am pleased to have it go to 32 prior to a run up since this time I added 400 shares to the holding for FREE. In other words, I took some pocket profits to buy some paper shares on the retreat. Should it retreat more, Oh Well. I will have been early again but on the comeback I am 400 shares stronger.
