Romney said:
“It’s probably closer to the 15 percent rate than anything,” Mr. Romney said. “Because my last 10 years, I’ve — my income comes overwhelmingly from some investments made in the past, whether ordinary income or earned annually. I got a little bit of income from my book, but I gave that all away.”
Mr. Romney added: “And then I get speaker’s fees from time to time, but not very much.”
In fact, in the most recent year, Mr. Romney made $374,327.62 in speaker’s fees, at an average of $41,592 per speech, according to his public financial disclosure reports.
Paying at 15% is greater than Kerry and his wife paid back when he ran against Bush. They only paid 12.8%.

Also Kerry was the wealthiest person that ever ran for President. He and his wife have a net worth that is at least 3 times that of Romney. It wasn't an issue back in 2004 so it shouldn't count for much today.
As for $374K in speakers fees, that is pathetic when you compare it to Bill Clinton. CLINTON surpasses $75 million in speech income after lucrative 2010

Romney is a Mormon and they usually donate 10% of their income to the church. I wonder how Romney's charitable contributions compare with Clinton, Kerry and Obama. |
