Billion Dollar Companies With Stocks Under $10

Twenty-one companies in the S&P 500 [.SPX 1308.04 14.37 (+1.11%) ] are trading below $10 a share and have a market-capitalization valuation between $1.5 billion and $65.7 billion.

This marks a 30 percent decrease from Oct. 19, 2011, our last update, when 30 companies traded in the single digits. Since then, however, the S&P 500 is up nearly 7 percent, while the 21 stocks on the list below have posted an average gain of 12.5 percent.

At the current levels, Sprint Nextel [S 2.33 0.12 (+5.43%) ] continues to have the lowest share price, followed by Regions Financial [RF 4.91 0.11 (+2.29%) ] and Tenet Healthcare [THC 5.02 0.09 (+1.83%) ] .

As a group, the 21 lowest-priced stocks in the S&P 500 are up 6.6 percent year-to-date, compared to a 2.6 percent gain for the 30 highest-priced companies, and a 2.9 percent increase for the overall index.

Here is a look at the companies with a market cap greater than $1 billion and a share price below $10 dollars.
