I understand what they are doing. If you do your not fully mentioning the restrictions, it isn't just not distributing it on other platforms (a restriction I would also find objectionable), but also from distributing it for pay, except through Apple.
Personally I don't think I would use such a tool, at least not if I had the talents that would possibly make what I produce something salable with their software. They have every right to set such terms, I wouldn't pass a law against them, or sue them, I wouldn't try to pressure them even outside of using government force, with things like protests or organized boycotts (not even if I thought such actions would be effective). But personally I see it as unreasonable, so I wouldn't use the product.
Before Road Walker mentioned "price gouging", I didn't respond then, and I won't respond at length now because its off topic. I don't think Apple's policies, or supposedly "too high" of prices is evil, or should be illegal. I just see Apple's policies here as poor, and an idea I wouldn't want to see spread, as a net negative, as a reason not to use the product. If you don't like the terms, don't buy or use the product. I'm saying I don't like the terms, not that Apple should be forced to change them.
The difference between "gouging" and these policies, is that what's called gouging can often be a net benefit, even beneficial to the consumers. But that's too off topic, if anyone actually cares to have that explained, you can PM to me, or post to me on some other thread, or search my previous posts. |
