<<<Why do you say she was damaged? Because she didn't believe in God? Maybe that she felt man biggest reason for being was as a selfish person? That man should be true to his self-interest for his own happiness? What is it about her you find so repulsive? >>>

Well, that is an excellent start. Here are some random quotes from critics: During Rand's lifetime her work received little attention from academic scholars. When the first academic book about Rand's philosophy appeared in 1971, its author declared writing about Rand "a treacherous undertaking" that could lead to "guilt by association" for taking her seriously. Still, others are less kind calling Rand's "execrable claptrap" and "a nightmare;" they said it was "written out of hate" and showed "remorseless hectoring and prolixity." Author Flannery O'Connor wrote in a letter to a friend that "The fiction of Ayn Rand is as low as you can get re fiction. I hope you picked it up off the floor of the subway and threw it in the nearest garbage pail. Others have described 'rand' as: "An angry tirade occasioned by mistaking philosophical disagreement for a personal attack and/or evidence of unspeakable moral corruption."

I am sure you can find many more favorable reviews of her work but by and large, she is not taken seriously by the majority of the literary and philosophy departments at most universities.

BTW I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard or read somewhere she applied for Social Security in her final days using another name.
