Neeka, I think your analysis is right on the money. So many Americans are sick and tired of seeing Republicans pander to the interests of the "Big Liberal Media Industrial Complex" and have been waiting for someone with conviction to take them on. Newt's rise from the first few debates can be directly attributed to his willingness to call BS on liberal questions, liberal assumptions and liberal points of view presented by the Democratic party debate moderators.

Newt sensed this early and went on the offensive. Had Cain done the same thing he may still be in the fight today. SC demonstrated once again that no one has the vote locked up until 1-3 days prior to entering the voting booth. Romney has a tendency to play prevent defense with 8 minutes left in the game and a slim lead in the polls when they've proven to be way off. Voters are just not sure which candidate should be the next President and they're waiting until the last minute to decide.

The Tea Party rage at the way our government has incompetently mis-managed the budget is seething beneath the surface and Newt is taping into that resentment. Supposedly super intelligent Ivy League grads have driven our great country to the edge of the financial precipice, where the only viable solution is common sense conservatism. Newt appears to have the temerity to take everyone on, including Republicans who have signed on to the mess we're in. The fact that so many inside the beltway politicians criticized him and ran him out of Washington on trumped up phony charges, serve his chances of winning the nomination.
