An acquaintance is in Beijing now, for the first time in a year. He reports that within 100 meters of his hotel (in the Yayuncun district) there are at least 8 stores selling the iPhone 4S, with prominent banners announcing that fact. Very little interest in the Samsung product counters, a lot of interest at the iPhone and iPad counters. He says it is very different than a year ago. Remember folks, the iPhone is free with a 3 year contract in China and China Telecom will likely have the iPhone later this quarter. Samsung's market is going to be eaten by Apple on one side and inexpensive Android phones on the other side.
