At first it seemed like only the pelted store closed. Then Apple sold out of 4S in the China stores. Faced with high demand at the Chinese launch date, what should Apple have done? Sell to flippers who would make quick premiums, or pass the units to tear-down shops; or confine sales to their resellers? It was similar in June 2007. The launch was at $499 and $599 if I recall correctly, so competitors and tear-down shops paid full price, before moving in September to the subsidized model. To me that Bloomberg.com article was misleading. Apple is selling all it can of the 4S in China, and deciding how to allocate current production.

Moonray defended posting an article that was stale, IMO.
