You think they are liberals, but very few are. Liberals cannot be elected very easily in this country.

Polls show only 20% of people call themselves liberal and only 5% very liberal. 40% call themselves conservative if I remember correctly, so in a democracy obviously there will be more conservatives. And conservatives don't usually elect liberals!!

Do you know of even one person in the congress who calls themselves an atheist? Most very liberal people are athiest or at least agnostic.

One cannot win any election in the US as an open atheist.
