I had four cats over 30 years, 1 mine, 1 my kids and 2 my mothers, all rescued kitties. When she died that was all she asked me to do: "take car of her cats".

All died of kidney failure at 18 to 20. Really important to cut down on the protein at that age. Get low protein food from vets or even generic dry food which usually has less protein. No wet food. Or just give them what they want and let them enjoy their last years. 20 seems the limit. Like 100 for people.
