(Well, someone's an amateur.)

Apple started moving towards the "amateur" market sometime ago - actually it's what most would call the consumer market. They've done more to democratize content creation than all AVIDs and Adobe's put together. There have been missteps along the way (who really knows what's going on with FCP?), but you just can't ignore the incredible influence they've had on the world.
