Today, the Govt. is a essential part of our lives. They represent the collective might of the society and is accountable to the society that elects them. This a concept that was very foreign to the founding fathers who envisioned Govt. as the British colonialists from whom they were fleeing.

I view taxes as a fee that we must pay the society from whom we harvest our wealth and the ones who make conditions that are amenable for that harvest. If we say that "each one to themselves" then we need only look at the jungle where might rules and there is no social order.

If Obama hadn't intervened in the auto industry, it would be enjoying the bounce back that it is enjoying today. On hindsight, Obama should have had increased government oversight into the affairs of Solyndra. I am glad to see the pressure put on the banks to ensure that they pass a "health test." Europe has now taken the lead with their banks.

So for right wingers like you to say that the Govt. should reduce its oversight and for left wingers to say that Obama is in bed with the bankers and Wall Streeters is ridiculous.
