Andy - I would think that increased volume on RISING prices coming off a long decline is definitely a positive sign - what it does at this point is difficult to say - the increase could have been news related which may be a short lived event. Look at SALV which had an identical price move on high volume (this was news related). Such volume increases after a long UPTREND do indicate topping. My preferred use of volume increases comes after basing has occurred in an uptrending stock, and a breakout occurs. Volume increases work both ways.
