I remember them too and they were very good. But I always wondered why the college didn't pay him, as they do with most lecturers. Why did he need to have it "funded" by some outside non profit organization?

My guess would be so that the tapes of the lectures would belong to the 501C and could have been used and shown in similar college classes in other locations. When the brouhaha hit it made the idea impractical. I'd love to get my hands on a set today in DVD but they are not available. Amazon occasionally will have a set of the original VCR tapes recorded off the air, but they are quite expensive. My wife and I did in fact record about 4 of them off air and still have them. The quality is not too bad, but I no longer have a working VCR player to play them <g>.

I've always wished he could have commercialized them somehow and made them available thru Netflix.
