Jack, This Everen Securities recommendation is a perfect example of brokerages all feeding from the same information troughs--one likes it so they all like it. Their reasons for liking the stock are also lightweight and boil down to because they think it will go up--duh. The "economy of scale" argument is obviously weak. With 10 million subscribers, AOL's profitability profile looks about like any ISP no matter the size. Their argument that the $1000 PC helps AOL is probably right. My neighbor just bought his first PC today. I helped him set it up and during the conversation he asked about online services, mentioning AOL by name and assuming it was somehow the best--this from a guy who has never used a computer. Everen's earnings estimates are also above Steve Case's estimates. They must know something he doesn't. If AOL's going to $100 (their opinion, not mine), I wish it would do it fast so I can buy Dec $100 puts.
Best,
Steve
