<<Philip and all, there isn't going to be any takeover ever for MUEI....who wants them?? Why should CPQ, DELL, or IBM buy them out when they are squeezing them out of business as it is.>>
Brian,
I own 5k MUEI at 16.5 and am as tired of this crap as you are. I saw MUEI's CEO being interviewed Mon. on CNBC at COMDEX and he was smiling and happy and seemed to indicate everything was fine at MUEI. Why did he even do the interview knowing 4 days later they would be warning? What a loser....
Here's something for the folks on this thread, at MUEI and CPQ, HWP, IBM etc. to consider. Due to today's news that MUEI would badly miss estimates the rest of the boxbuilders were down. CPQ was down nearly 3 points. CPQ has 789M shares outstanding X 3 pts.= 2.3B loss in market cap due to problems at MUEI. How much market cap. did the rest of the boxbuilders lose today due to MUEI ? MUEI's market cap. is only a little over 1B. Wouldn't it be in the best interest of the shareholders of ALL the boxbuilders for one of these co's to buy MUEI and put it out of its misery?
What's next? MUEI says they're loaded with notebooks. Are they going to dump notebooks at a loss, thereby hurting notebook margins at CPQ, DELL, Toshiba etc. ? IMO MUEI just does not have the critical mass, economies of scale, and marketing clout to successfully compete in the PC business. Unless they are bought, their market share will continue to decline and as the bad news continues to come out the negative sentiment will continue to scare investor's away from PC and PC related stocks, as they wonder who will be the next to fall. IMO for the well being of the entire PC industry MUEI must be merged.
MUEI has excellent products, so if the price was right I'm sure quite a few co's would like to buy in order to get into the direct PC business and/or to add to their manufacturing capacity. However, I'm getting the impression that the parent co. MU does not want to sell MUEI. Shareholders must convince the management of both MU and MUEI that the only way to increase shareholder value is to sell MUEI. If they have a viable plan to regain market share lost to CPQ, DELL etc. while selling their products at a profit, I'd like to see it. If not the ONLY alternative is to sell, and the sooner the better. This is one of the strong Q's, if they can't make $ now with a brand new nationwide ad campaign, how will they do it in the middle of summer when business is slowest ?
Hopefully enough shareholders reading this thread will get to the meeting so we can be heard, and contact J.R. Simplot and convince him that MUEI MUST BE SOLD !!!!
All comments and ideas are welcome.
