Quite aside from the hypocrisy of turning up at an environmental event in a motorcade of 22 carbon-belching cars, there's the question of the imperial presidency.

When I was in England writing about the royal wedding, I noted that Prince Charles travels around London in a motorcade that was no motorcade at all, just his Audi and one police vehicle.

And Chuck faces almost as much danger on a daily basis as Barack Obama.

Anyway, it's nice to see Obama doesn't really worry about global warming.

If he did, he'd tell the Secret Service to cut those motorcades down to a reasonable number of vehicles.

But perhaps he realizes there's no reason to panic about carbon dioxide, a harmless gas he emits every time he exhales.
