I am not an engineer, so I am guessing based on my reading. I suspect you need four years of Algebra, plus every other math course you can come up with for a Electrical Engineering degree. A lot of this could be done by the the end of twelve years of school. But the Schools don't want you to learn too fast and to skip the Liberal Arts classes they love to teach. reminds me of dance classes where the teacher wants you to get one new step per class. Keep you coming back for more.
