Yes, the muster drill is mandatory and a U.S. Coast Guard requirement in all U.S. waters, and it's the first thing that takes place about an hour or so before we set sail, but of course the muster drill is scheduled after the incredible buffet lunch which we enjoy as soon as we board ship and stow away our gear in our cabin... and also, I always make sure our set of oars are under the bed in the cabin, just in case... during the muster drill, we go to out lifeboat stations and fit our life jackets so there would be no problem or confusion at that time should an emergency occur...
