Existentialism has many interpretations as it is such an abstract idea. In fact, the new colloquial use of the word means simply "real" e.g. Iran is an existential threat to Israel.

But that is not what Sartre was getting at-lol. I follow Sartre's definition which means nothing is real except ones own experience.

I guess there could be a spiritual existentialism. Really never thought about it like that though. The existentialists had a huge impact on me because I was coming from an ignorant Christian ghetto, to trying to just understaand what the big thinkers were getting at. Man I had no idea why Plato was important as a kid. And it took me years to understand him.

The Stranger by Camus really had a huge impact on me and basically I was with Sartre but without the nilihism. So in a way I have been blind to my own thinking because I believe in kindness as a universal truth and Sartre would not have liked that-lol. So I guess I need to cut Kierkegaard some slack-lol.

Still, I do feel existentialism cannot be brewed without knowledge of evolution and a modern day understanding of religion i.e. there is not one shred of proof or even logic; and evolution and science does provide all the answers religion used to answer. Even kindness.
