<in the belief> I think they believe that inflation is their only hope for pulling off a life-saving default of spectacular proportions without sinking the global economy in the debt trap they themselves engineered not so long ago. Inflation is not what they are avoiding -- it is what they aim to achieve. They live in a house with only one door -- and the house is on fire. Inflation is the only way out for them -- their only chance for escape -- and they are rushing headlong towards the exit no matter what the cost, with Europe hard on their heels even as they they look back and crying in twenty different languages 'I don't want to leave my beautiful house'. But like a house fully engulfed in flames, their house is now only a memory, and ours a dream unfulfilled.
