Thanks. That is a new philosophic vein to be mined for me. If you are interested, let me recommend his Contingency, Irony, and Solidarity book as the best place to begin (http://www.amazon.com/Contingency-Irony-Solidarity-Richard-Rorty/dp/0521367816/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328124151&sr=1-2) rather than with his more widely known philosophical work, Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature. amazon.com The first is accessible; the second not so much so, at least not without some teeth gritting slow reading, checking sources, getting caught up on not only introductory courses in philosophy but a few advanced ones as well. My wife loves that book but her background in philosophy is much stronger than mine.
