Nik, I also look for possible catalysts that will drive the stock, just as I look for potential pitfalls. Why look for one and not the other? I think Clownbuck is correct in stating that it could be that a catalyst is already priced into the stock and it is also possible that if the catalyst comes into fruition, it might not drive up the price at all. But perhaps he is not aware that he too is looking at catalysts.

It's important to define what a catalyst is. There have been several ideas discussed on this thread that I think are catalysts. Examples include pending litigation, price of components or agricultural products, change in competitive landscape or change in financial moat or even regression to mean, to name a few.

Keeping it brief.....We all look at catalysts just like you do.
