>> Why?

Because Saddam had been a constant problem in the region for 10 years, resulting in instability throughout the entire Mideast. Because we were having to maintain no-fly zones while he was making the US look weak month after month. Because he was in fact aiding terrorists. Because he had the intent and capability to reconstitute his WMD programs. Because getting rid of him created the potential for democracy to flourish in the region, and eliminating him would make other dictators in the area think carefully about confrontation with the U.S. Because a free Iraq would (and did) result in uprisings in surrounding nations, which if handled competently by the US could have brought freedom to a very large number of oppressed people in the Mideast.

There are plenty of reasons and it is a damned shame Obama has squandered a lot of the benefits.

BTW, you're an idiot if you think the war cost "$3+ Trillion".
