If the web was around in the 16th and 17th century, they would have called Galileo a bigoted hater for looking at God's secrets and thus elevating humans.

The slaveowners in the 19th century and the blood lusting confederate army (and the KKK of the 20th century) saw God as their defender, against those hateful abolitionists, and that Godless federal government preemption..

You are in good company, being called these things.
