here's why not...

A good article, but it missed another reason why Israel would want to attack: if Iran gets nukes, then Saudi Arabia, Turkey and probably Egypt gets them too. They would feel that they would have to, as a strategic matter. It would be intolerable for the unstable Shia heretics to have them while they themselves went without.

And then we would find ourselves in a ME with 5 nuclear states (6 if you count Pakistan), all armed to the nuclear teeth. That's a sure recipe for apocalypse, sooner or later, by either mistake or design.

True: an attack would only set back Iran's capabilities by several years, at best. But Israel may conclude (rightly or wrongly) that this is better than nothing. And they might also be secretly hoping that a war might even destabilize the mullahs enough to force regime change.

I think Israel will do it.
