From being on Medicare I doubt once they have FDA approval that it will be a problem at all.
When you see what's supposed to be the retail price of an operation, then see what Medicare pays, you realize the sort of discounts that are possible. I doubt that anyone pays retail, but I also suspect that many pay more than the price Medicare pays. The good news is while some Drs. refuse to take Medicare, I've had no problem finding great Doctors who are still living quite well with many patients on Medicare.
I know the Medicare system will no doubt require some tweaking to keep it solvent, but like Social Security itself it can survive. What's sad is that decades ago when SS had all sorts of money, other departments were able to take it without interest, and I'm unsure it was actually even paid back. I suspect that if all these transactions were reversed, and SS was paid principle and interest at C.D. rates, SS and perhaps Medicare wouldn't have problems now, or in the future. The problem is that when money can be found anywhere in the Government, they cannot stand not spending it.
