I'm glad Noonan has come around, but she's still a turncoat.

She was fooled, though I still don't understand how. To this day, I don't understand how Obama fooled so many smart, sophisticated people. Maybe their very sophistication tripped them up, as Obama gave off vibes saying 'never mind the liberal boilerplate, that's just rhetoric for my base. I'm too smart to believe that stuff.' But he isn't. He never was. If anything, what he believes as his core religious ideology (and it is a religion, if a secular one) is to the left of the liberal ideology he usually preaches. But you see, now when he is unpopular and working to keep his base, how he instinctively moves to the populist left; it is his comfort zone.

Obama certainly wouldn't be the first radical politician to masquerade as a moderate while rising to power. Like the Cuban exiles say, "When Fidel Castro first took power, none of us knew he was a Communist!"
