That 1,252,000 change "to persons not in the labor force" was part of the incorporation of Census 2010 data, as described in The 3rd paragraph following Table A of today's BLS report. You can't take that one number as "bad news". bls.gov Just look at at MasterCard and VISA both hitting new highs this morning.
