B on the W is correct that the wedding ceremony itself can be attended by non-Mormons, but there is a consecration ceremony which follows is held in a special room in the Temple, which when I was a boy was said to have a floor of gold, that can only be entered by Mormons. I'm talking about the temple in Salt Lake City.

The consecration ceremony itself is never to be spoken of. It involves binding the couple together through eternity.

It confers status on Mormon couples to be "married in the Temple" (which is always capitalized). Not just any Mormon couple is eligible.
