A few questions for Kanode at the next Conf call:
From the Needham conference
1) Ford testing of VLNC batteries in Europe -
Since VLNC battery is said to have passed Ford's 18-month test in flying colors, Kanode asked a Ford official involved in the electrification of Ford whether he was familiar with the test result. He said he was. Kanode asked when they plan to order batteries. The Ford guy said the positive test result put VLNC on a list of potential suppliers and when their turn comes Ford will contact them - maybe in about 3-4 years. For that Kanode said in that time frame, he would not be able to sell Ford any batteries because the current batteries would have been obsolete.
(Most legacy auto manufacturers - GM, Ford, Chrysler - can not change their bureaucratic ways in adopting new technology.)
2) EVI delay Re. 100 UPS trucks -
The delay is due to UPS reconfiguring their battery charging station and as a result, EVI had to reconfigure the body. Timeline is not clear. VLNC shows $20Million in inventory last quarter.
3) Vanadium -
No questions on V. What is the status of V battery. Has anyone testing? When will they release?
4) Freightliner bid for 3000 trucks -
UPS recommended VLNC. Enova said in last month's conference they are expecting a final decision on the battery supplier in 2-4 weeks. 2 weeks are over. When will they know?
