Ashley, you have arrived at conclusions based on inadequate input. You saw a Mirasol Demonstration unit in a fixed environment with perfect lighting and thought it was as good as any LCD. However, what you did not see was an LCD without backlighting alongside the Mirasol nor did you see a Mirasol display in a darkened enviroment alongside an LCD display. So you did not have a direct comparison. Your envisioning LCD's with bright backlighting in a somewhat darkened environment and trying to compare the two is like apple and oranges.

The reviewers are correct when they say the display is not as brilliant at other displays. Unfortunately, they just don't take the time to also explain that "oh, but it is so much better in bright conditions". All of the youtube demos shown so far are in an indoor environment using 20% front lighting. If they used 100% front lighting, then the battery life advantage goes away.

Just enjoy it for what it is and the purpose it serves.
