Kiwis tend to be very liberal - very much akin to the UK & Irish. The vast majority(other than indigenous natives) are descended from British & Irish. I've always told the latter that they can afford to be unrealistic about pretending government can create utopia for the masses -- they never have to make crucial global decisions about anything. And most importantly - their population doesn't need to fund the best military on the planet in order to protect the free world from tyrants.
