I would have to look up the exact address, don't have handy. It was in the Christ Church area---------the church was within easy distance ofGreat Aunt Annie's home. She was a 'mail order bride' in late 1800's.

I met her once when she was in her 90's in New York. . She doted on my daughter, never missed a holiday, a birthday-----always something coming in the mail and corresponded via hand written letters. Her son and family are now older and live in New York---------he studied engineering of some sort and became an Executive with one of the oil companies in New Zealand and later transferred to New York.

I think of her having the internal strength and courage to get on a sailing ship as a mail order bride from England----that took courage. She was also lucky in marrying an intelligent man and producing several offspring.

A lot of women were mail order brides in the 1800's and the 1900's. I also have a Grandmother on my father's side who did the reverse----------a mail order husband in the 1920's after her husband died..

Well enough family history------
