Our auditor claims that the tax we pay is budget driven, not assessment driven. In other words, if the assessment goes up or down the tax remains the same unless the budget is changed.

Meanwhile, there are two big plywood signs on the highway asking why our assessments went up when the next county south, which is far more urban and higher value, downsized their assessments.
