Trufflette, I did some reading on TR-3 tapes sometime ago when I was looking for tape backups. Two problems prevented me from the purchase. One is that the shelf life of the taped data is only one year, after which it should be re-written. Two is that using TR series tapes, one must religiously do "retension" on the tape after each use. DAT drives are a little better without requiring the "retension", but still have a limited shelf life (about two year, if I remember correctly).

I ended up buying more Jaz cartridges. :-)
