I have three half/Japanese Grandchildren. with an Japanese last name showing, living in California. My daughter told me yesterday that a friend of hers reads entry essays for University of California, San Diego. The friend informed her that it was death to put down your race, if it's Asian or Caucasion, or income, if it was high, on your app. They automatically go to the bottom of the stack. The oldest is a sophomore at UC in computer science. The next has been accepted at Oregon State in their music program. The youngest, a HS Freshman, wants to go to Vet school. She hasn't got a chance in hell of getting in.
